Cost to install laminate flooring in Luxembourg (2026)

Laminate flooring installed in Luxembourg runs €28 to €58/m² in 2026, with most domestic projects at €34–€44/m² TTC for AC4 plank, acoustic underlay, perimeter expansion gap and new MDF skirting. A 45 m² living-hall job lands €1 500–€2 650; a 90 m² first-floor renovation €3 100–€5 200. Price drivers are plank class (AC3/4/5), thickness, underlay density, subfloor state, and whether skirting and door-trimming are billed. Figures assume a declared flooring artisan with an Autorisation d'établissement, minimum 2-year workmanship warranty, manufacturer plank warranty 10–25 years depending on class, and a written devis. They exclude subfloor screed repair beyond localised filling, staircase cladding, transitions in natural stone, and furniture-moving beyond one room.

Price per square metre by scope and plank class

ScopePrice installed (incl. TVA 17 %)
Labour only, plank supplied by client€14–€22/m²
AC3 7-mm plank, basic underlay, supplied + fitted€28–€36/m²
AC4 8-mm plank, standard acoustic underlay, fitted€34–€44/m²
AC4 10–12-mm waterproof plank, premium underlay€42–€54/m²
AC5 commercial 12-mm plank for shops/offices€48–€68/m²
MDF skirting new, painted, per linear metre€12–€22/lm
Door undercutting per leaf€18–€35
Localised subfloor ragréage per m²€8–€18/m²
Staircase cladding per step€75–€140

A €36/m² plank on a 60 m² project, fitted = €2 160 TTC. Net (HT) basis: €1 846.

TVA note. Primary-residence floor replacement as part of a declared renovation can qualify for the 3 % super-reduced rate via logement.lu. A 60 m² project at 3 % instead of 17 % saves €360.

Class and thickness drivers:

  • AC3 is fine for bedrooms and low-traffic rooms; AC4 is the baseline for living areas and halls in LU
  • Thickness governs durability and acoustics — 10–12 mm halves footfall noise versus 7 mm
  • Waterproof HDF core adds €4–€9/m² but is sensible in kitchens and entrances

What drives the per-m² quote up or down

  • Subfloor flatness. LU renovations often reveal a screed with 4–8 mm tolerance over 2 m; laminate requires 2–3 mm. A localised ragréage adds €8–€18/m²; a full self-levelling compound €22–€35/m².
  • Underlay choice. A 2-mm basic foam is €2–€4/m²; a 5-mm PU acoustic underlay with vapour barrier is €7–€14/m². On a first floor above a bedroom, premium underlay is non-negotiable.
  • Plank pattern and cut rate. Herringbone or diagonal cuts waste 12–18 % more plank versus 4–7 % for a standard running bond — push price up 10–20 %.
  • Access and room count. Multiple small rooms with more edge-cutting cost €4–€6/m² more than an open 60 m² floor plan.
  • Old-floor removal. Lifting an existing laminate or parquet adds €6–€12/m² and €55–€95 per bin of disposal.
  • Season. Winter installations with high humidity can trigger a 24 h acclimatisation stop — build the day into the schedule.

A 60-m² project at €36/m² on a ready subfloor delivers in two working days. The same project with ragréage, herringbone pattern and old-floor lift doubles to four days and lands at €52/m².

What a laminate quote includes and excludes

Standard inclusions on a declared-artisan devis:

  • On-site measurement and subfloor moisture check (should be under 2,5 % CM for concrete)
  • Plank supply of named brand and class, with batch number traceability
  • Acoustic underlay of named brand, thickness and density
  • Perimeter expansion gap with rubber wedges removed at end
  • Click-lock installation with staggered plank joints
  • Skirting supply and fit with mitred corners
  • Transition profiles at doorways (brass, aluminium or colour-matched)
  • Furniture protection, dust containment, daily clean-up
  • 2-year workmanship warranty, manufacturer warranty passed on

Usually excluded — separate line items:

  • Old-floor removal and disposal — €6–€12/m² + €55–€95 per bin
  • Full self-levelling ragréage above 8 mm tolerance — €22–€35/m²
  • Vapour barrier over damp concrete if moisture exceeds 2,5 % — €3–€6/m²
  • Skirting painting beyond the factory finish — €3–€6/lm
  • Staircase cladding — €75–€140 per step
  • Door leaf modification beyond undercutting — €40–€90 per door
  • Underfloor heating check — €85–€140 flat fee
  • Furniture-moving beyond one room — €45–€90 per room

Get every exclusion priced as a call-off line so you can sign the main works before discovering a subfloor problem.

LU context — declared trade, TVA and copropriété

Laminate flooring is a regulated activity under the Métiers de la Parqueterie-Carrelage category. A declared artisan must hold an Autorisation d'établissement from the Ministère de l'Économie and be registered at the Chambre des Métiers. Working with an undeclared installer voids your home-insurance cover if a moisture issue damages a downstairs flat.

TVA:

  • Standard rate 17 % on labour and material
  • 3 % super-reduced rate on eligible labour lines for primary-residence renovation. Conditions: the dwelling must be your primary residence for at least two years after the works, the property must be at least two years old, and the dossier must be filed on logement.lu before the start date with the artisan's coordinates.
  • Second homes, rental properties, commercial premises: 17 %

Copropriété — apartments. Laminate above a floor shared with another unit requires meeting a minimum acoustic performance (NF S 31-074 Luxembourg equivalent: ΔLw ≥ 19 dB). The copropriété règlement may demand prior syndic approval. Replacing parquet with floating laminate on a 1920s slab without documented underlay has led to neighbour disputes — budget €7–€14/m² for a compliant PU underlay in multi-unit buildings.

Communes. Declared artisans service Luxembourg-Ville, Esch-sur-Alzette, Differdange, Dudelange, Mersch and Ettelbruck. Rural communes add a small travel fee of €35–€80 per site visit.

How to compare three artisan quotes

Laminate quotes on identical briefs cluster within ±15 %. A wider spread usually means a different plank brand or a missing subfloor line.

Brief pack for three artisans:

  • Room-by-room measurement (m² and linear metres of skirting)
  • Subfloor type (concrete, old tile, wood)
  • Presence of underfloor heating
  • Desired plank class (AC3/4/5) and thickness
  • Pattern (straight, diagonal, herringbone)
  • Existing floor to remove or to overlay
  • Completion deadline

Six comparison checks:

  • Named brand and reference. "Kronotex Dynamic AC4 8 mm" — not "laminate 8 mm"
  • Underlay spec. Brand, thickness, ΔLw dB figure, vapour barrier
  • Subfloor test. Moisture reading and tolerance measurement documented
  • Skirting inclusion. Linear-metre quantity, painted or primed
  • Transition profiles. Count and material
  • TVA position. Is the 3 % super-reduced rate applied? Who files logement.lu?

Three quotes on a shared brief land ±15 %. A €38/m² quote against two €44/m² quotes usually drops a vapour barrier or an acoustic underlay — call and ask before choosing the lowest.

Hidden costs and red flags

  • Moisture surprise. A 1970s slab reading 4 % CM instead of 2,5 % needs a DPM (damp-proof membrane): €3–€6/m² extra or a full liquid DPM at €12–€22/m².
  • Uneven subfloor. Tolerances worse than 8 mm over 2 m trigger a self-levelling compound: €22–€35/m².
  • Door-bottom interference. Interior doors that drag on the new floor need undercutting (€18–€35 per leaf) or full replacement.
  • Radiator-pipe cuts. Each pipe penetration costs €12–€24 in cut time and a matching rosette.
  • Skirting painting. Pre-primed MDF often looks patchy after mitring and needs a topcoat: €3–€6/lm.
  • Acclimatisation window. Laminate must acclimatise in the room for 48 h before fitting — if you skip this, the floor lifts within weeks. A serious artisan refuses to install on delivery day.

Red flags:

  • No mention of plank brand or class in the devis
  • No moisture reading included
  • No underlay thickness or acoustic figure quoted
  • "Décennale" absent from the header for projects above €5 000
  • Payment 100 % up-front — normal is 30 % deposit, 60 % at completion, 10 % at final inspection
  • Foreign-registered installer without LU Autorisation d'établissement

Laminate flooring installed in Luxembourg lands between €28 and €58/m² in 2026, with most domestic projects at €34–€44/m² TTC. The levers that matter are plank class and thickness, underlay spec, subfloor condition and copropriété acoustic requirements — not headline price. Secure the 3 % TVA position early via logement.lu if the property is your primary residence, and compare three artisan quotes on a shared brief with identical brand and underlay specifications. Fynd.lu lists declared flooring artisans across Luxembourg-Ville, Esch-sur-Alzette, Differdange, Dudelange and Mersch with Autorisation d'établissement, 2-year workmanship warranty and documented underlay options — ask for three side-by-side devis before you sign off the order.
